Met Gala 2015

Hello all!

Monday night was the highly anticipated Met Ball, one of fashion's premier events of the year. With this post, I bring to you some of my favourite looks of the evening. While the fashion was great, I do have to admit I was rather disappointed with the lack of participation with the theme. However, overall most of the attendees looked great. Very few people made my worst dressed list!

What were some of your favourite looks this year?

Coachella 2015: The Music & Fashion I

Every year, the music and fashion worlds come together to bring the most hyped event of the year. Coachella is an arts and music festival held over the course of two weekends. While the festival is about the music, it's really about the fashion. We see many great performances, but the fashion is what people talk about all year long.
With that, I'm going to share with you my favourite performances and looks from weekend 1 this year, enjoy!

THE MUSIC

  • Marina and the Diamonds: overall always an incredible performer, it's always nice to see a favourite artist performing new work, which is what we got with the set of tracks from Froot.
  • Florence + The Machine: I have been so obsessed with F+TM again lately, so I was super excited for a Coachella performance. Florence was incredible, she is so captivating. The performance was never boring, she really kept the crowd going.
  • The Weeknd: I actually used to have an obsession with Abel. I prefer his older stuff, I guess that's why the obsession ended. But that being said he performed a lot of his older stuff which made me a happy girl.
  • Tame Impala: a boy I had a crush on in high school actually introduced me to them, which I'm glad for. This was my first time watching a live performance from them, I've never thought to look any up from them. But wow, they are incredible performers! Their Coachella set just really brought the band to life and represented them so well, I was so pleased.
  • Drake: Of course I had to include Drake.. While I found some of it a bit off, most of it was great. And then there was that Madonna kiss.. At least now we know how she stays so young.
  • Honourable Mentions: Angus & Julia Stone, FKA Twigs, Gesaffelstein, Hozier, Kygo, Mac Demarco, SBTRKT, Tyler the Creator, Vic Mensa

THE FASHION

Hope you enjoyed, looking forward to seeing what weekend 2 has in store!

STYLE WATCH: Miranda Kerr

If you know me, you'll know about my crazy obsession with all things Victoria's Secret; the clothes, the wings, the models and most importantly, the angels style. The angels hold notoriety for their incredible bodies, and with that, their perfect style. One of my favourites is (well, was, since she is no longer an angel) Miranda Kerr. She always embodies the perfect mix of high and low, while pulling off an effortlessly chic style.

Warby Parker: Spectrum Sun Collection

On Tuesday 18th March, New York based eyewear company Warby Parker released their Spectrum Sun Collection. The collection features 9 new pieces, all retailing at $95USD/$120CAD on the Warby Parker website.

One thing I really love about this company, aside from super stylish eyewear, is the do good mantra. For every pair sold, Warby Parker and non-profit partners provide a pair to someone in need. Warby Parker is also one of the only carbon-neutral eyewear brands worldwide, which should definitely appeal to you environmentalists a bit! A do good company providing stylish eyewear at an affordable price.. What more could you want?

The collection features:

DOWNING: in Striped Sassafras
A quirky take on a classic silhouette

DEAN: in English Oak and Striped Olive
A classic go anywhere/wear with anything shape

HALL: in Cherry Blossom and Whiskey Tortoise
A stronger, rectangular shape in a unique pop of colour

MINNIE: in Eucalyptus and Striped Sassafras
An oversized round shape in colours perfect for day to day

PIPER: in Revolver Black and Woodland Tortoise
A classic silhouette meets subtle cat-eye for an everyday bold

My favourite from the collection would either be the Minnie in Striped Sassafras or Piper in Revolver Black. I really love the subtle cat-eye on the Piper and you know I love my black! With the Minnie, it is quite possibly one of my favourite silhouettes in sunglasses in terms of what looks good on my face shape, so this is one I would purchase in every colour!
But honourable mention to the Hall in Cherry Blossom; the pop of colour is too cute not to mention, and the perfect way to add some colour for the transition to Spring/Summer.

The collection is now available on the Warby Parker website. Feel free to leave me a comment down below letting me know your favourites from the collection, and if you pick a pair up tag me on instagram (@LBECHKOS17) so I can check em out :) xLB

I also just wanted to say, I was really fascinated with Warby Parkers Annual Report, which I found in a Forbes article here. From the business student in me, a lot of work was put into this and it shows. A very innovative way to present information that can often be boring and seemingly repetitive, Warby Parker makes it fun and interesting.
