As you may or may not know, I'm super into decorating/organizing my room, as well as DIY stuff! Something I've been loving to do lately is reusing the pots from used up candles. I tend to buy my candles from the same place, Bath & Body Works or Yankee Candle, so they always end being the same glass containers. Personally, I love the consistency, but obviously you can use multiple shapes and sizes! These are such a great way to organize beauty and hair things I've found, and it's a great way to use up the adorable jars which accounts for majority of the cost when you buy candles.
1. The first step is obviously to burn the candle as far down as possible
2. Once your candle can't burn down any longer (or you're impatient!) Pop it in the freezer. Now personally I don't think there is any given time, I've done it from anywhere from an hour to a day and I've still found the same results, so it's all up to what you've got on the go - I'd recommend at least an hour though!
3. After taking it out of the freezer you'll likely notice a few cracks. The more cracks in one area you see the easier it will be.
4. The next step is to grab a household knife (any kind, except a butter knife), and pry a little more at the already existing cracks. Since the wax is hard, once you get the cracks deep enough the pieces will start popping off.
5. Keep doing this for as much of it as you can - some of them get really tricky as you get close to the (glued in) wick, so if you have some left, no worries!
6. Next, boil some water and fill up the candle jar completely. This also helps to clean up the edges. Once it's full, you'll start to notice some of the wax surfacing which will look a lot like oil in water.
7. After having the water sit in for awhile, dump it out and then the glued in wick with the surrounding wax should just pop out with a little force from the knife. After that, clean up the candle jar to your satisfaction just using warm water and soap.
8. After your jar is all cleaned up, you're good to go and ready for cute organization! I like to leave the labels on - I think it gives them a nice touch, but the choice is yours! In terms of storage, I like to keep things like hair bands, hair grips, cosmetic rounds, cotton swabs, elastic bands and in my larger ones I keep some beauty tools and brushes.
